It’s in Poquoson’s budget: $223,982 for mental health

The Poquoson City Council recently approved spending $223,982 on mental health services in fiscal year 2016.
Roughly 80 percent of the money is the city’s contribution to Colonial Behavioral Health, a regional community services board that provides overall administration and coordination of mental health and substance abuse programs for Poquoson and Williamsburg, and York and James City counties.

The rest is allocated to the Crossroads Teen House – a state licensed co-ed residential program that provides a broad-based behavior management system of care for the region’s socially, emotionally and behaviorally at-risk youth.

The funding for mental health in fiscal year 2016, which begins July 1, is an increase of 0.5 percent from fiscal year 2015.
